Why we're building Roomrr
Most housing platforms solve for the room. They show you square footage, a rent figure and a pin on a map, and then leave the hardest part entirely to chance: the people you'll actually be sharing a kitchen, a wall and a year of your life with.
That's backwards. The room is the easy part. Compatibility is what decides whether the next twelve months are good ones.
So Roomrr starts from the people. Lifestyle-based roommate compatibility, verified housing, student and young professional communities, and a digital rental and move-in experience built around them — one platform where finding a place and finding the right people to live in it are the same search.
We're still early, and a lot is being figured out in real time.
Shreeja is a builder. At Roomrr she works across product, operations, growth, partnerships and university communities — talking to students and universities, shaping the product, testing assumptions, onboarding partners, and figuring out what actually works.
Her background is in Sustainable Building Engineering, with studies at UNSW in Australia and Sapienza University of Rome in Italy, where she was recognised for academic excellence with a merit scholarship. She joined Citadel Propcon at 19 as their youngest employee and spent four years there, eventually leading global expansions and partnerships from Sydney while completing her degree abroad. She has also founded a residential construction practice, owning strategy and execution end to end.
She has always been fascinated by how we build the spaces people live in. Roomrr is her attempt at the other half of that question: how we build better systems around the people living in them.
Currently building Roomrr, learning in public, and probably asking way too many questions along the way.
